leaving the Air Force, she and Alvin moved the family to CA. While continuing her education at Arizona State, Patti enjoyed being an extra in the Jerry Lewis movie “The Nutty Professor.” She loved to tell that story.Īfter Alvin graduated pilot school, they were transferred to Dover, DE where two of Patti's greatest blessings, Carol-Ann and Kristin, were born in the base hospital. He was in the Air Force, so they started married life in Chandler, AZ. The family moved back to SLC where Patti and Alvin started dating they married in 1962. She also joined P.E.O., eventually being honored with her 60 year pin. ![]() Patti's father's job took them to Idaho Falls, ID, where Patti was an active member in Job’s Daughters. During that time, she contracted polio, but a doctor with progressive methods helped her recover. As a grade-schooler at the Wasatch Presbyterian Church, she met Alvin Baer, her future husband. They initially lived in VA but later moved to Salt Lake City, UT. Always an avid runner, Dan ran the Boston Marathon four times between 19.ĭan, Betty, and their two sons headed west in November, 1974 when Dan took a position with Sandia National Laboratories in Livermore, California and purchased a home in Pleasanton.Įarth lost an angel and Heaven gained one on the death of Patti Baer on Jan 25, 2023. First living in Cambridge, followed by Arlington and then Bedford, Dan worked at the Watertown Arsenal conducting research on metal alloys for various national defense applications which inspired his doctoral thesis in titanium alloys. Dan received a Master’s degree in 1968 and a PhD in 1973 from MIT in Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science. They married on Augand moved to the Boston area to pursue further graduate studies. ![]() While at Cornell, he met the love of his life, Elizabeth (Betty) Enzel, a student at nearby SUNY-Cortland. Dan grew up in Oceanside, New York, graduating from Oceanside High School in 1960 and then heading off to Cornell University, where he majored in mechanical engineering. ![]() Dan was born on Septemin Rockville Centre, New York to Daniel W. After 80 years of a life well-lived, Dan Dawson passed away on February 6, 2023.
